Myth: Evangelism is unethical.

Should we even be evangelizing?

How do you feel when you hear the word evangelism

Maybe you can relate to these people:

“I have contradictory feelings about the term. On the one hand its clear from the Great Commission that all Christians are supposed to be actively sharing their faith. But on the other hand, I think there is a stigma around terms like ‘evangelism’ or ‘evangelical’ because they are laden with a lot of political connotations.”

– Jonathan in Chicago

“Honestly, I slightly recoil a little bit. It’s probably because you see those people with Bibles on the street and that’s what a lot of people associate with evangelism. And it also makes me nervous because it makes me feel like I have to go out of my comfort zone and talk to someone. And part of me is like, this is the real deal, the front-line stuff.”

– Charlie in London

Why do people feel so uneasy about evangelism?

How do we share the gospel in a polarized society (can we agree to disagree?!)? And what does ethical evangelism look like in Scripture?

No doubt these are big questions! But this is where we need to start the series: Is evangelism ethical? Because if it’s not, should we even be evangelizing?
